Breastfeeding can be challenging at first, but the right support can make all the difference.
Guidance from a lactation consultant can be a game-changer for the breastfeeding parent.
Are you wondering if your baby is getting enough milk? This is one of the most common concerns of new parents, and a visit with a lactation consultant will give you the answer.
Do you question whether you are achieving a good latch? Most parents do and deserve skilled assistance for the best possible breastfeeding experience.
Are you experiencing pain that lasts more than 30 seconds while breastfeeding? Nursing your baby should be comfortable. Pain, while common, is not normal and we can work to achieve a deep latch for pain-free breastfeeding.
There are many issues you may be experiencing that we can address:
Struggles with latching and positioning
Nipple pain and discomfort
Wondering if your baby is getting enough
Slow weight gain
Plugged ducts & mastitis
Wanting to be as prepared as possible for the baby at home
How to gently wean
Planning on going back to work and need help with a pumping plan
And everything else breastfeeding related!
If you're experiencing any of these issues or have any of these concerns, I can help. During a consultation we will discuss your questions and develop a unique, customized care plan to help you meet your breastfeeding goals. Visits include a pre- and post-feed weight check to see exactly how much milk your baby is taking, an infant oral-evaluation, breast and breastfeeding assessment and most importantly, answers to all of your questions based on the most up-to-date research and knowledge. Visits include 2 weeks of follow-up access to discuss issues that arise.
Why do people need help with something that is supposed to be natural?
Throughout most of human history people learned how to breastfeed by seeing other people nurse all around them. Today this is often not the case. Without this foundational experience, new parents need hands-on, personalized guidance and help to get off to the best start. I provide education, direction and compassion, all without guilt, in your home.
Words From Clients
“Rachel was not only kind and informative, but she brought peace of mind to my husband and I by supporting us each step of the way. We know that our journey to get our baby to breastfeed would be a long one, but Rachel helped ease our anxiety and made us feel like we could accomplish anything! We felt like we exhausted all options before meeting with Rachel, but she brought so much to the table and we are already seeing improvement! We are very grated for her guidance and kindness!” - Ashley
"Thank you for all of your time and support during what was an incredibly challenging time. Your advice was especially helpful and made me feel much more confident. You are truly great at what you do, and all the women you work with are lucky to have you." - Ali
"I had a bit of a traumatic birthing experience and saw several lactation consultants during our hospital stay. Rachel was the only lactation consultant we have seen who even asked about the birth so that she could fully understand the situation, which I feel helped her provide more personalized care. She was professional, patient, and provided several tips and options that I’m encouraged to try. Thank you, Rachel!" - R
"Rachel is very knowledgeable about breastfeeding. As soon as she came to our home, I felt very comfortable with her. She listened to all our questions and tailored her advice and plan to our specific needs. She also made me feel much better about our situation and have optimism moving forward with our breastfeeding journey. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who is looking to breastfeed!" - Katie A.
"After a complicated pregnancy and a difficult labor, we came home in love, exhausted, and unsure of this whole new world. Rachel was the only person we allowed into our home in that precious first week, and it made all the difference. She helped me with breastfeeding techniques, eased any insecurities, and also helped us recognize that our new little friend was cluster feeding. She worked to make our home a sacred space for our expanded family, and her expertise, love of babies, and care for mamas were a huge part of us starting our parenting journey with smiles (and a few extra hours of sleep).
